ABOUT OUR NDPYC TEACHING TEAM

The Newham Deanery Youth & Partnerships Council involves decision-making and strategic planning, while the Newham Deanery Youth & Partnerships Coordination focuses on organising and managing youth partnership activities. IDEA supports both.

Dr. P Demetriou

Dr. Demetriou has had numerous papers delivered at conferences including the LSRN conference at Greenwich University in July 2023.

In the past, his work has heavily involved advocating for a revision into how PGCE learners are taught, with an emphasis on promoting positive mental health. This is demonstrated in his book 'Supporting the Social and Emotional Learning of Students in FE, due to be published in February 2024.

Dr. S Bankes

  • She has gained experience with a variety of abilities and has taught in several higher ability programmes - like the Brilliant Club and Newham Transition - in the past.
  • Her approach places emphasis on mastery and building perception.

Background:

  • Dr. Bankes holds an English degree from Cambridge and a PhD and masters from the Open University.
  • She has consistently gained feedback that describes her as 'open minded', someone who 'teaches until you understand' as well as 'excellent.

Mr Shaddel

"My priority is taking into account what the student wants to gain and personalising the sessions to take them beyond their goals.

I receive regular excellent feedback, many describing me as 'professional, patient and organised.'

My priority is taking into account what the student wants to gain and personalising the sessions to take them beyond their goals."

Mr Diniz Mota

"Studying Maths, Further Maths and Physics A levels, I achieved grades 8 and 9 in all my GCSE's, results that earned a mention in the Newham Recorder paper and Invicta National Academy website. I have delivered lessons to GCSE students at the University of Oxford and am on track to begin my master's degree in astrophysics at the University of Manchester. My aim in teaching is to inspire other young people to see the beauty in the sciences I see."

Miss Johnson

  • In person teaching assistant for Brilliant club preparatory classes for KS2
  • In person Art club youth leader for KS2
  • Maths Tutor peer mentor at A-level
  • Chemistry Tutor peer mentor at A-level
  • In-person teaching assistant for Brilliant club preparatory classes for KS2

Miss Mamallan

Students say Miss Mamallan is 'engaging and

motivating'.

With a focus on technique, Miss Mamallan's goal is to not only teach but to instil passion. Her accolades include but are not limited to six grade 9s at GCSE, the Jack Petchey award, two first-class degrees awarded by the Brilliant Club programme and a gold medal awarded by the UK Maths challenge.

Mr Maurer

With over seven years of teaching experience across schools in London, he also supports Deanery youth through confirmation classes and is a committed member of the Knights of St. Columba. Mr Maurer holds an Accounting and Finance degree from Durham University with professional experience in auditing, business consultancy, and personal finance training.

Mr Falleur

BSc. Behavioural Science (Nottingham University) and PGCRM (Manchester University)

The feedback we've received consistently centres around his engagement with students:

  • questioning techniques and giving praise
  • Passionate about students understanding the "why?"
  • Fascinated with history, exploring and all things

Mr Musse

A keen learner and educator, Mr. Musse achieved no less than 8's and 9's at GCSE and went on to extend this feat to A level, receiving A*AA in the subjects he now teaches.

Mr. Musse is currently studying chemical engineering at the prestigious

University of Manchester.
